Finnair to deepen its cooperation with Juneyao Air

Finnair and Shanghai-based Juneyao Air have signed a Letter of Intent to deepen their cooperation between China and Europe topic to expected regulatory approvals.  

The intention is to establish a joint enterprise on the Helsinki – Shanghai route enabling Finnair and Juneyao Air to offer their company and leisure customers a seamless journey experience through a wider option of destination, schedule and fare options via their major hubs, Helsinki Airport (HEL) and Pudong International Airport (PVG). 

“Despite these immensely difficult moments for our industry, we at Finnair remain steadfast in our belief and commitment to China as a key market and to Juneyao Air as a key partner. Over the previous year we have created up a close and mutually valuable partnership with Juneyao Air. Getting the important step to evolve this into a deeper cooperation focused on our Shanghai and Helsinki hubs will allow us to not only serve our latest prospects even better, but also to lay a system for more expansion in the potential, when the aviation market starts to normalise”, says Ole Orver, Chief Commercial Officer at Finnair.

Juneyao Air launched its route from Shanghai to Helsinki in July 2019, and since then both Finnair and Juneyao Air have been code sharing on each individual other´s Helsinki-Shanghai routes and on selected routes from Helsinki to Europe and from Shanghai to other places in China. A reciprocal agreement for Finnair Furthermore and Juneyao Air Club member was also implemented in August 2019, allowing customers to gain and redeem miles and points all over each individual partner’s whole network. 

As soon as implemented, the joint enterprise cooperation will enable significant more expansion of codesharing across the networks of both partners, significantly to key points guiding Shanghai Pudong and Helsinki, as perfectly as the introduction of enhanced rewards for regular tourists.
